The Board of Directors of I-Café Pilipinas would be having a meeting with Commissioner Monchito Ibrahim, Cyberservices Group and Ms. Patricia Abejo, Chief of Staff, Office of Secretary and Director, Cyberservices Group of the Commission on Information and Communication Technology on September 1, 2009, Tuesday at exactly 10:00 am.
As you know the Commission of Information and Communication Technology is the highest government agency that formulates ICT policies in the country. This meeting is of utmost importance to the task that we have set to do with regards to improving the conditions of the internet café industry in the country.
Meeting place would be in front of the CICT building in CP Garcia Ave which is near UP Diliman in Quezon City.9:00 am. Instructions on how to get there via public transportation could be found below. Attached is the map going to the venue.

Mr. Ed Zafra and I would be attending the round table discussion on Internet Governance, Surveillance, and Social Controls to consider the changing architecture of the Internet and the types of governance, policies, technologies, practices, and social controls that are being employed to regulate and filter citizen access to the Internet. It would be on September 3, 2009 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at the South America Room of the College of St. Benilde International Hotel – De La Salle University. I was given a chance to present the position of the internet café industry with regards to regulating and filtering the internet. Our position is No to Censorship or no to installation of filtering software which is going to be required by the Anti-Child Pornography Law which is now at the bicameral committee of congress for final revision before signing it into law.
On September 5, 2009 I would be going to Nasugbu, Batangas to conduct the first “Ang Batang Digital Pinoy” Responsible Use of Technology Workshop. This is the outreach program of I-Café Pilipinas that hopes to improve the image of the internet café industry to the community. This program is now being offered to schools and universities that wishes to provide their teachers and students a deeper understanding of the digital world in which we live in.
