Here are some posting guidelines..

1. Off topic post= It is a good idea to mark messages that are a bit (or more) off-topic in the Subject. You may want to mark unrelated posts with shorthand [OT] that stands for \"off topic.\" This gives you an excuse for posting an unrelated message and keeps readers who want to stay on topic from reading an extra post. Keep in mind that too many \"off topic\" postings may become disruptive to the flow of the message board.
But if you really need to post an off-topic post,
try to include something that is on-topic. It keeps it more to the thread.

2. Screaming = Do not type in all caps. In the net world, using all capital letters is equivalent to screaming. It is difficult to read and can be considered rude. If you have a disability or have trouble switching from capital letters to lowercase letters, stick with all lower case instead. The font on your screen can be adjusted within your individual browser.

3. Spamming = Don't \"spam\" the boards with multiple postings. These are annoying to members and to the community Moderators who remove them. Try and target your posting to a specific message board. Use the search forum box before posting this way you can target your specific post to the right subject.

4. Reviewing your post = Try to keep your paragraphs short. It is extremely difficult to read a margin-to-margin four-page posting without losing one's train of thought or becoming distracted. An empty line in the middle of a long string of text makes reading much more pleasant and increases your chances of receiving replies.

5. Quote messages = if you want to reply to them specifically (see help for quote tag). However, when quoting, edit the quoted
material to make it clear what you?re replying to and to make your own post as
brief and to the point as possible.

Just for the case you find this abbreviation in some post.

Forum Rules - 2005/10/25 10:55 Thank you for being a part of the growth of Unified LANshop Owners of the Philippines. However, the time has come to add some rules to provide a better place for us to discuss everything about our business.

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me.

General Rules:
* Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not
allowed.

* While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated.

* Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. is not allowed. This includes nudity and excessive profanity.

* Members should post in a way which is consistent with \"normal writing\". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts.

* Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.

* We also do not allow posts that are sexual in nature or violate community standards. Ulop.net team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

* Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.

* While we are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about competitor's services, we will not tolerate blatant adverts. Also, we would appreciate it if you refrain from blatant bashing of other services.

* We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

* We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules.

* Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

* Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, and so forth.

Forum Rules

here's something i picked up from another forum:

A fool on the Web may be known for six things:
(1) posting without even thinking if it's relevant and if it's within the set rules;
(2) posting a reply without reading the whole thing on the thread;
(3) posting without even editing their grammar and punctuation;
(4) posting without reading between the lines thus taking things out of context;
(5) posting without even thinking that what they have written is actually a file for candidacy; and,
(6) posting just for the sake of having posted something.

add ko na din:

use the forum search box first before asking or posting a new thread... please!

there are thousands of topics already covered, and it would be helpful for everybody to search first to avoid multiple threads on the same subject. ^^

keeping your queries simple should get you fast results.

Topic Poisoning - This is the worst version of OT wherein the OT post is followed by a number of replies based from the OT post completely ignoring/discarding the main topic. This usually happens if the forum is not well-moderated.<br><br>Post edited by: phfire, at: 2008/05/13 22:59

Teka, kosang phazeddl. Out of tune yata yang suggestion mo. ^_^
