ok lang. why not use more than one hdd to reduce delay and compensate for the lack of speed of hdd and if you want to stick with hdd, set your drives to RAID 0 to increase performance since you do not care about information with writebacks anyway

eto sabi:

4) Two SATA/SAS/SSD HDD is used for client write-back disk. We don't NOT recommend to use RAID for write-back disks. If one disk is broken, we can use the other one. If using RAID for writeback disk, one disk broken will cause all clients stop. On the other hand, CCBoot can do balance for writeback disk. Two disks write performance is better than one RAID disk. Using SSD as writeback disk is better than SATA. SSD has good IOPS. The street said the writing activities are harmful for the lifetime of SSD. In our experience, one SSD for writeback disk can be used for three years at least. It's enough and worth.

I do not recommend what I haven't tested myself. so the answer is yes. One disk going bad on your RAID setup was not the problem, it was your disk drive that went sour, so kahit single disk ang ginamit nagkaproblema ka rin regardless. You opt to use HDD instead of SSD as your writeback as you said in your subject so you will get responses pertaining to that. so yes hdd is okay with diskless as writeback, its just a matter of balancing as to how many clients and how many hdd you will use, slower but it wil work if you are under a tight budget.

more info sa trim
