A doctor who serves at a rural health unit (RHU) in Quezon City died after he received the controversial Dengvaxia vaccination. The doctor was identified as Dr. Kendrick Gotoc, from Binalonan, Pangasinan. Based on his profile, he is a doctor of Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Rabies and Animal Bite Management Specialist.
As reported at Balitang Amianan, GMA-7’s regional news broadcast aired in the Ilocos Region, Councilor Ryan Gotoc, the victim’s brother, said that Dr. Gotoc has completed the Dengvaxia vaccination but he did not tell his family at once, adding that the DOH (Department of Health) required the doctors to receive the Dengvaxia vaccination.
“Napansin ko sa katawan nya, puting puti na [when he last came here]. Tsaka may pantal pantal na parang kagat ng langgam, throughout the body. Tsaka payat na payat siya. (I noticed that his body turned white. And he had rashes that look like ant-bites, throughout his body. And he was very thin.)” Norma Gatoc, the victim’s grieving mother said.
“Ang sinasabi po ng mga expert sa kanilang pagsusuri, yung mga wala pong dengue at binigyan ng Dengvaxia, ibig sabihin po kapag siya ay nagkaroon ng dengue, mas lumalala po yung sintomas ng dengue sa katawan niya.” Dr. Anna de Guzman of Pangasinan’s Provincial Health Office said.
(Experts say that based on their findings, a person who has not yet been infected with dengue but has received the Dengvaxia vaccination, it means that if he will have dengue, the symptoms of dengue will be worst.)
As of posting, Pangasinan’s Provincial Health have not yet commented on Dr. Gotoc’s case because the victim’s family has not yet filed a formal complaint. Nevertheless, Councilor Ryan Gotoc insisted that the people who are involved in this improper vaccination of Dengvaxia should be held accountable for the death of his brother.
Meanwhile, Senator Bam Aquino said that his cousin, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is not a psychic, and could not foresee the supposed risks of the Dengvaxia vaccine. This is after the Senate blue ribbon committee chaired by Senator Richard Gordon recommended that cases should be filed against Noynoy and his officials.
