Slackware
Why?
- stability , simplicity , manual system control and ease of use
- simple lang yung system configs, lahat text files (less graphical configuration management, less automation, less layers , less complexity, less things to break/crash )
- vanilla softwares included, minimal or no modification from software developers, (other distros often need to patch the bugs created their own previous patches/modifications.)
- ikaw may control sa system os, hindi yung os ang may control sa iyo na forced ka gamitin yung specific software (bootloader, startup, desktop, automated tools, etc..)
-"if it ain't broke, don't fix it", very minimal yung changes every new version, sa ibang distro nakaka frustrate kapag may feature ka nakasanayan at nagustuhan tapos next version release wala na or pinalitan agad
hindi nawawala yung fun and humor sa slackware
- wayback nung na-release at naging popular yung windows 95, yung slackware 3.1 was called "slackware 96"
- after version 4 nag jump to version 7, skipped version 5 & 6, kasi karamihan nang disto noon puro version 6
- then yung slackware version 13.37 , hehehe
ok na ako sa setup na TWM window manager at screen , para kahit mag crash yung Xserver pwede ko re-attach yung screen session kahit sa console framebuffer
